12 May 2007 Dear Lanny, There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about you and what a shock it was to learn that you had been killed defending the ammo dump and LZ Jake. Just 1 month and 6 days after my return to the world. I know, buddy, that you were getting short and close to returning home to your family. And how much I would have loved to see you and yours and how proud I would have been for you to meet mine. I often think that if I had been there to help you would things have turned out different?. It's often troubling that I wasn't. No one can change history, but there is one thing that I can do, I always will remember you! By the way, the Moving Wall is coming to my home, and I am volunteering to help. Maybe in some way this will help me ease my pain and it's a way to pay tribute to you and all the Veterans.
