From Kirkwood, Missouri
07 November 1945 - 19 March 1968
Martin Biondo was known to his friends as "Marty". Marty graduated from Kirkwood High School, Kirkwood Missouri. At the time he was drafted he was attending Meramac Community College. He was studying Hotel and Motel Management.
Marty was everybody's friend. We all loved him. He was the kindest, most gentle and considerate person you would ever want to meet. Marty would do most anything to help a friend. Have a problem? Call Marty. Marty was funny. He loved to laugh and make others laugh.
Marty loved cars and could easily take one apart and put it back together without a hitch.
I have so many memories of Marty. Too many funny stories to tell them all. But I have a favorite one and that's the one I will share. Marty chose to stay close to home when he graduated from High School, while our other friends spread across the country. When Marty was drafted, I was in Nursing School and home for the weekend. I was lonely, so naturally I called Marty. Although he was within a couple of days of leaving for boot camp, that night he said "How about if I take you to see My Fair Lady?". Not the kind of movie that Marty liked, but he knew I would love it.
That was the last time I saw Marty. Every time I see My Fair Lady, I think about Marty. To this very day, I remember the fun we had and the rootbeer float we had after. That night I kissed him goodbye, not knowing I would ever see him again.
You're missed, Marty, but never forgotten!
