A Note from The Virtual Wall On February 28, 1970 the lead APC of a resupply convoy headed to Dau Tieng from the battalion forward base detonated an explosive device. The APC was completely destroyed and seven men from HQ Company were killed: SFC Douglas M. Woodward, Berryville, VA SSG Charles R. Baggett, Rison, AR SGT Eugene Carter, Warrenton, NC SGT Donnie R. Chastain, Greer, SC CPL James P. De Vaney, Goldsboro, NC CPL Robert E. Guthrie, Red Bank, TN CPL Billy J. Roberts, Mesquite, TX
