A Note from The Virtual Wall

Shortly before midnight on 09 Aug 1970, an enemy force attacked Fire Support Base GWEN, located about 24 miles north-northwest of Ham Tan in Binh Thuy Province. Four US soldiers were killed:
  • A Co, 5th Bn, 12th Infantry
    • CPL John H. Lightsey, Odum, GA

  • D Btry, 2nd Bn, 40th Artillery
    • SSG Wilbert J. Jones, Keysville, VA
    • SP4 Don W. Avery, Chicago, IL
    • PFC Anthony V. Martinez, Medford Station, NY
