13 Dec 2003 Dedicated to the Honorable Robert Henry McCollum from Russell Gravett and Family. Robert and I attended Park Street Junior High in Marietta. The two of us were good pals who spent a good deal of time together. Robert will always be remember and honored as one of our Nation's Best! A Note from The Virtual Wall The 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry, lost five men on 27 Feb 1968: B Company: PFC Robert H. McCollum, Marietta, GA C Company: 1LT Louis H. McFarland, Santa Barbara, CA SP4 Kenneth E. Aleshire, Philadelphia, PA (Silver Star) SP4 Mitchell F. Sek, Chicago, IL HQ Company: MAJ William W. Roush, Houston, TX (Dist Svc Cross, 2 awards) Major Roush, the 4th Bn's Executive Officer, received a Distinguished Service Cross for his actions during an attack on the battalion's firebase at Bo Tuc on 05 Jan 1968, and a second DSC for the fight that led to his death. PFC Robert McCollum is buried in Section R, Site 104, Marietta National Cemetery Marietta, Georgia. The five men are remembered by their comrades in the 9th Infantry
