To my friend Dave,

You were the best friend a person could ever have. I still think about you a lot and hope someday to see you again. I'll never forget the day I got the news you were killed ... my body went numb and I've never been quite the same since. I think about what you could have accomplished if things would have went differently.

C Co, 19th Combat Engineers, lost six men on 24 May 1969 - five of their own and an artilleryman who was on temporary duty with the engineers:

  • PVT Elmer E. Fields, Fairfax, OK
