A Note from The Virtual Wall On 10 Oct 1969 two UH-1E gunships from HML-367 were tasked with a fire mission against enemy positions near Con Thien. The number two Huey, UH-1E BuNo 152438, was heavily hit in the tail boom/tail rotor area and crashed. Three crewmen were killed in the crash; the fourth, pilot Edward Bauernfeind, was severely injured but was rescued by a nearby Army unit. The three dead were 1stLt James L. Rhodes, Kansas, IL LCpl Danny R. Hesson, Parkersburg, WV LCpl Manley E. Siler, Odessa, TX These three men are also memorialized by their comrades from HML-367
