The update to this page began with the submission of two photos to post from his sister in Kansas. Additional research revealed PFC Ward was killed while on a combat operation when a booby trap was detonated. During May and June 1969, A and C Companies lost a total of 3 men to booby traps. They were: PFC Ronald Ray Ward, Haysville, KS - May 23, 1969 Company C; PFC Ronald Lee Brashears, Stanberry, MO - June 5, 1969 Company A; SP4 Jesse W Singleton, Decatur, GA - June 9, 1969 Company C. Photo taken when PFC Ward was on a fire support base. Notice the Armored Personnel Carrier over his left shoulder parked between the sandbagged bunkers. Date and location unknown.

PFC Ward is buried in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Wichita, Kansas. At the time of his death, he was survived by his mother, Ada R Ward. He was pre-deceased by his father, Earl R Ward, a World War II Veteran, on June 28, 1958. Earl was a Technical Specialist (Level 4) with the 10th Tank Battalion, Division unknown but most likely part of the 10th Division. PFC Ward's mother passed on February 19, 1999 and was buried with her husband and son. -- The Virtual Wall, December 20, 2013
